Scope
This policy applies to the Newstream mobile application and our backend services, including content streaming and brief generation features. It does not cover third‑party sites and services you access via links.
Summary Of What We Process
- Account identifiers: user ID (always), email (only if provided during sign‑in).
- Authentication tokens on device: a session token stored locally on your device.
- Analytics and diagnostics: technical and usage data collected by Amplitude and Sentry (including session replays on supported platforms).
- Generated content: topics you choose and brief audio/text generated from public news articles.
- Operational metadata: request/queue/job telemetry for processing briefs and streaming.
Personal Data We Collect
- Account and identifiers: user ID (generated by us); email (optional), obtained from Google or Apple when available.
- Authentication: JWT access token stored locally on your device.
- Usage and device data (through SDKs): analytics events (screen views, taps, sign‑in provider labels, errors); crash reports and session replay (Sentry) including app state and, in limited cases, on‑screen content; service providers may collect network metadata such as IP address.
- Generated and content data: topics you select, generated briefs, and audio segments required for HLS streaming. We process public news article text to generate content (not your personal data).
- In‑app storage: session token and optional Apple email cache on device.
How We Use Personal Data
- Provide and secure the Services (authenticate you, deliver brief generation and HLS audio streaming, maintain infrastructure health).
- Improve and troubleshoot (analytics, logs, crash reports, and session replay to diagnose issues and improve UX).
- Communicate (respond to requests and support).
- Compliance and enforcement (detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or legal requests).
Legal Bases (EEA/UK)
- Contract: provide core features (auth, content generation, streaming).
- Legitimate interests: service security, diagnostics, product improvement, non‑essential telemetry where consent is not required.
- Consent: analytics and session replay where required by law. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us; where available, use in‑app controls.
International Data Transfers
Our providers may process data in countries outside your jurisdiction (e.g., the United States). Where required, we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data Retention
- Account data (user ID, optional email): retained while your account is active and as needed for legal/operational purposes.
- Analytics and diagnostics: retained per provider’s standard retention periods.
- Operational logs and job data: retained for a limited period necessary to operate and secure the Services.
- Local device data (token, cached email): stored until you logout or clear app data.
We delete or anonymize data when it is no longer needed. To request deletion, contact us.
Your Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, portability, and withdraw consent. California residents: rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sharing” (we do not “sell” personal info). To exercise rights, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity.
Security
We use industry‑standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest and restrict access to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Cookies And Similar Technologies
Mobile apps: do not use web cookies. Analytics/diagnostics SDKs may collect device/usage data as described above. Website (if you access it): static assets may be served with caching; we do not use tracking cookies unless otherwise stated on the site.

We may disclose data to service providers listed above, to comply with legal requests, protect rights and safety, or in connection with corporate transactions.

Important notes and configuration based on the current app
- Analytics and diagnostics are enabled via Amplitude and Sentry. Sentry is configured to send default PII and session replay sampling may occur (client‑side). If you require consent in your region, ensure consent prompts and gating are implemented before enabling these features.
- Authentication tokens are stored locally on device for session continuity.
- We process only minimal account data (user ID, optional email). Generated briefs are based on public articles and topics you select.
